Anti-Money Laundering Policy
A. Why we verify
Real players. Real money. Clean money.
Edmundston Casino handles deposits and withdrawals in Canadian dollars (CAD), and with that comes a duty to know who is behind every account. Verification keeps criminal money off our tables, keeps minors out and protects your account from anyone trying to use it in your place.
We only accept players from jurisdictions whose local laws allow it, and we comply with Canadian requirements on age, identity checks and anti-money laundering. This policy sets out how our casino applies those requirements. Please read it alongside our General Terms and our Personal Data Policy, which explains how the documents you submit are stored and protected.
B. Source of funds
Sometimes we need to know where the money comes from.
Unusual activity or bigger sums on your account? We may ask where your deposited money comes from. Typical examples:
- recent payslips or an employment letter
- bank statements showing the funds arriving
- proof of inherited money, a home or property sale, or investment returns
- business records if you are self-employed
A request is not an accusation. It is a standard check, and most players never see one. When it arrives, sending clear documents quickly keeps your withdrawals moving.
C. Identity and age checks
Every account is checked before its first deposit. We confirm your name, date of birth, location and home address, and that you are 19 or older.
Many checks run electronically in the background. When they cannot confirm everything, we request documents. These are the ones we accept:
Photo identification
- a Canadian passport
- a driver's licence from any province or territory
- a photo ID card issued by a province or territory
Address
- a recent utility bill
- a recent bank or credit card statement
- an official government letter dated recently
Payment ownership
- for cards: a photo of the card's front, middle digits hidden
- for e-wallets such as PayPal or Payz (ecoPayz): a screenshot of the account page showing your name
- for bank transfers, eCheck or Interac e-Transfer: a statement showing your name and account details
Every document must be clear, in colour, not cropped and still in date, and each one must show the name on your account. You may only use payment methods that are your own; deposits from a card or wallet belonging to another person are not allowed.
In addition to these checks, geolocation confirms that you are in a location where we accept players.
D. Record keeping and reporting
We keep records. We report what the law requires.
Even once an account is closed, we keep ID documents, verification outcomes and transaction records safely stored for the period Canadian law requires. Our Personal Data Policy sets out how this information is protected.
Where account activity hints at terrorist financing, money laundering or other financial crime, we file a report with the relevant Canadian authorities. Legally we may not tell the account holder about that report, so it cannot be discussed with you. Large transactions are logged and reported as the law requires, regardless of outcome.
E. Ongoing monitoring
Verification continues once your account is open. We keep an eye on how accounts are used and look for behaviour that departs from ordinary play, for example:
- cash going in and back out with hardly any wagering in between
- a sudden spike in deposit amounts or in how often deposits come in
- deposits from payment methods in other people's names
- several accounts traced to a single individual, device or address
- attempts to split large amounts into many small ones
Payouts land in a payment method registered to you. Withdraw by Interac e-Transfer, Apple Pay, PayPal, eCheck and Bank Wire / Transfer. Deposited with Visa, Mastercard or Payz (ecoPayz)? Once we confirm one of these withdrawal options is yours, we pay you through it. No fees on deposits or withdrawals.
Most payouts clear in between one hour and four. A bank wire may take as many as 12 hours. Checks from ongoing monitoring can hold a payout.
F. When checks fail
No verification, no play.
Missing, unreadable or altered documents, or details that do not match your account? Withdrawals go on hold, and deposits and gameplay may be limited until it is sorted. You will get a clear message listing what we still need.
If we cannot verify your identity, or if we discover false information, a payment method owned by a third party or a connection to financial crime, we will close the account. Under our General Terms, winnings linked to false details are void. Where permitted by law, deposits are returned to the source they came from. Where the law requires us to hold funds, we retain them.
G. Sanctions screening and politically exposed persons
We check every player against Canadian and international sanctions lists when they register, and we repeat these checks regularly. Anyone named on those lists cannot register a new account or continue to hold an existing account with us.
Our checks reach politically exposed persons as well: anyone holding senior public office today or in the recent past, plus their family and close associates. That status won't stop you playing. What it triggers is enhanced checks, source of funds among them, and closer monitoring of your account.
