Age Policy
A. 19+ only
19 and over. No exceptions. No second chances.
Edmundston Casino is for adults only. The minimum age to open an account, deposit or play any game here is 19, wherever we accept players. That applies to every slot, every table and every promotion, including free-to-play features and the prize wheel.
Opening an account for a young person, or letting one play on yours, breaks our General Terms. We treat it as seriously as underage play itself.
We accept players only where local laws allow gambling, and we comply with Canadian requirements on age, identity checks and anti-money laundering.
B. Parental controls and filtering tools
The strongest gate is the one at home.
Most smartphones, tablets, computers and home routers come with built-in controls that can block gambling content. Parents and guardians can use these to:
- block gambling sites and apps by category
- require a password before new apps are installed or purchases are made
- set screen time limits and bedtime lockouts
- create separate child profiles with restricted access
Specialist filtering software gives an extra level of protection and can apply to all the devices on your home network together. Many internet providers also include family filters free of charge; look in your account settings with your provider.
Filters work hardest when paired with honest talk. Show young people the mechanics of gambling and why the house always holds the edge on the odds. The YMCA Youth Gambling Awareness Program provides free resources built for exactly this.
C. Shared devices and protecting minors
One family laptop. One tablet on the couch. Many homes run this way, and it is where most underage access starts.
A few habits keep the doors shut:
- sign out of your casino account whenever you stop playing
- keep your casino password out of your browser's saved logins
- use a PIN, pattern or fingerprint to lock your screen
- give each person in the home their own user profile
- keep payment cards, wallets and banking apps out of reach
- do not share your login, even with an older teen
Our Cookie Policy explains which cookies keep you signed in, and how clearing them helps on a device other people use.
If you think a young person may have used your account, change the password at once and send us an email, so we can secure the account and examine its activity.
D. How we check age
We do not take a birth date on trust.
Here is how age is confirmed:
- At sign-up. Three details, please: date of birth, full legal name and residential address. Nobody under 19 can finish registering.
- Before the first deposit. We carry out KYC checks using trusted data sources, and geolocation verifies your playing location. No deposit is accepted until this step is finished.
- Documents where needed. If electronic checks cannot confirm your age, we request government-issued photo identification. Our Anti-Money Laundering Policy lists what we accept.
- Ongoing checks. Signs that a different person is using an account, such as changed payment details, unusual play patterns or a report from a parent, can trigger a fresh check at any point.
Payment methods must be in the account holder's name. That alone blocks many attempts to play with a parent's card.
E. When a minor is identified
Lights out, immediately.
Should we find out an account is owned by a person under 19, or that a young person has used an adult's account:
- the account is suspended as soon as we become aware, and then closed permanently
- all winnings are cancelled and no payout is made
- bonuses, Edmundston Rewards points and promotional balances are cancelled
- deposits are handled as the law requires, and returned to their source where the law allows
- any other accounts connected to that person, device or payment method are blocked
Any adult who knowingly opens the door for a minor to gamble can lose their account too, as our General Terms permit.
Our Personal Data Policy sets out how we handle any information about a minor that reaches us in this process.
